Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 cup diced yellow onion
1 TBSP olive oil
1 can french onion soup (home-canned or store bought)
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 recipe Garlic Cheddar Drop Biscuits or other biscuits of your choice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. While the oven is heating, add the olive oil and onions to your cast iron skillet. Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes or until starting to caramelize.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and use a wooden spoon to break apart. Cook until browned, roughly 5-9 minutes.
- Add the soup and remaining seasonings and bring to low boil. If the filling does not thicken enough, add a quick cornstarch slurry.
- Turn off the burner and top the filling with cheese. Place the skillet in the oven for 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from oven and place the pre-cooked biscuits on top. Return to the oven for another 5-10 minutes or until the biscuits are warm but are not continuing to cook.
- Let dish set for 5 minutes and enjoy!
