Description

A quick, cozy, family‑favorite dinner made with juicy ground beef, sweet‑and‑tangy sauce, and simple pantry staples. These homemade Sloppy Joes come together fast and taste way better than the can.

Ingredients

• 1 lb ground beef

• 1/2 cup diced onion

• 3/4 cup ketchup

• 1/4 cup yellow mustard

• 1/4 cup brown sugar

• 1/2 tsp salt

• 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. Heat a drizzle of oil in a skillet over medium heat.

2. Add the diced onion and ground beef. Cook for about 10 minutes, breaking up the meat as it browns.

3. Drain excess grease if needed.

4. Stir in the ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

5. Bring to a simmer and cook 5–10 minutes, until the sauce thickens and everything is hot and combined.

Notes

• Use locally sourced ground beef for the best flavor.

• Frozen onions work great and save prep time.

• Simmer longer for a thicker, richer sauce.

• Add diced peppers or shredded carrots to sneak in veggies.

• Serve on buns, sliced bread, or baked potatoes.

• Leftovers reheat well and freeze beautifully.
