What you need to make Honey Garlic Chicken Wings:

Chicken Wings
I use about 1 & 1/2 to 2 pounds
Olive Oil
For this will hold the seasonings to the meat and help the wings crisp up in the oven
Rub:
1 Tsp. Salt
1/2 Tsp. Black Pepper
2 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 Tsp. Paprika
Honey Garlic Sauce:
1/4 C. Soy Sauce
1/4 C. Honey
1/4 C. Water
1 Tsp. Sesame Oil
2 TBSP Minced Garlic
1/4 Tsp. Ginger Powder
+ 1 TBSP Cornstarch or Arrowroot Powder mixed with 3 TBSP Cold Water
How to make honey garlic wings:
- Preheat the oven to 425f.
- In a small dish mix together the ingredients for the rub.
- Pat wings completely dry with paper towels.
- Place wings in a large bowl and toss with olive oil. Add the rub to the bowl & toss to coat.
- On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, bake the wings for 20 minutes flipping halfway through. Make sure wings reach an internal temperature of about 160f.

The sauce:
While the wings are baking you need to prepare the sauce.
- Measure out and combine all of the sauce ingredients into a small sauce pan.
- Bring the sauce to a boil and reduce to simmer for about 10 minutes or until it has thickened slightly. Remove from heat and set aside until the wings are cooked.
Finishing up:
- In a clean large bowl combine the wings and the sauce. Toss to coat and return to the baking sheet. Bake for 5 minutes and broil for 2-3 minutes.
- Once the wings are at 165f allow them to cool slightly so the sauce will thicken and set up on the wings! Enjoy!

Supplies for making oven baked honey garlic chicken wings:
- Measuring spoons
- Measuring cups
- Large bowl
- Baking Sheet
- Parchment Paper
- Small sauce pan
- Whisk
- Digital Meat Thermometer
Notes:
Depending on how many wings you end up purchasing, you may have a bit more sauce than you need for coating the wings. If so, you can reserves some and drizzle it over the top of the wings when they are done to make them extra sticky and yummy!
Parchment paper is not necessary, but it does make for a quicker clean up. If you don’t have any, be sure to spray your baking sheet well with a non stick spray.

Notes from the homestead:
We raise and butcher our own meat chickens every year. Although we do keep a handful of them whole, we tend to part out the majority of the birds. This means I package the pieces separately as breasts, tenders, quarters, and wings. Then we save the back bone, feet and necks to be used to make chicken stock. Doing it this way allows us to have “Wing Night” without purchasing wings from the grocery store.
